Religiosity and gender role perceptions: insights from Malaysia

چکیده

This study explores how religiosity has shaped gender role perceptions in modern Malaysia. As part of a major research on equality Malaysia, this paper discusses findings from male respondents their regard to experience as working fathers. employed case approach and interviews with fathers the wife’s mothers. Using Leximancer text processing, interview data were analysed formed basis for structure development based Gioia’s analysis framework. Religiosity is regarded main influencer shaping men’s role. However, often overrated when justifying inappropriateness attitudes. Culture embedded individual values forms strong foundation society shape stratification system own. study’s highlight misconceptions about Islamic teachings hindrance equality. Instead, clearly noted every human being regardless differences. The implication discussed relation negative impact stigma by association, which develops long-lasting effect towards Islam inculcating movement applicable relevant across time, although changing into era if transmission sharia (Islamic jurisdiction) done appropriately form understanding correct practices.
